Buying Guides - Batteries

Pushing your own buttons with a battery powered sex toy can be a huge turn on – but remember you need to keep your sex toys turned on too by having the right batteries on hand! Choosing the correct battery for your plastic fantastic friends is very important as the majority of our sex toys and vibrators are made up of very small parts that can easily burn out if the wrong battery is used. Forget about raiding the TV remote though… We’ve got all your battery needs covered here at AdultShop! Begin by checking out the Vital Stats box when purchasing your sex toy or vibrator from our online toy shop as we’ve taking the guess work out of powering up your play by advising which batteries are required to get the most “bang” for your buck!

Alkaline batteries
As a general rule, sex toys and vibrators from leading toy manufacturers like Doc Johnson and California Exotics Novelties require good quality alkaline batteries as they provide more power, which in turn means better vibrations and more fun for you! Rechargeable batteries and low quality non-alkaline batteries should NEVER be used in these toys as not only do they not supply enough power, they’re also more likely to leak under the strain! Using alkaline batteries in your Doc Johnson and California Exotics Novelties toys will also extend their life.

General purpose batteries
Sex toys and vibrators from other toy manufacturers do not require an alkaline battery powered supply. General purpose and heavy duty batteries will supply these toys with all the power they need to keep you playing long into the night! Again though, rechargeable batteries should NEVER be used in these toys.

Rechargeable toys
In most cases, electric vibrators - particularly rechargeable toys - are more powerful than battery-powered vibes. And just think… You'll need never raid the TV remote control again because these state of the art stimulators are always ready to go when you are! Rechargeable toys may be a little more expensive than their battery powered counterparts, but they have a tendency to last longer too – and you can bet there's nothing worse than a vibe losing its mojo when you're on the verge of orgasm!

  • Always make sure your batteries are fresh – there’s nothing worse than a vibe losing its mojo when you’re on the verge of orgasm!

  • If your battery-powered sex toy or vibrator won’t turn on, make sure you’ve inserted the batteries correctly. If you’re not sure, try inserting them the other way around, just in case!

  • Make sure the battery contact points in your vibrator or sex toy are clear of paper or residue and are connecting with the ends of your batteries.

  • If your sex toy or vibrator is still not working, don't be afraid to wiggle your batteries around to make the connection and check that the base cap is tight (especially with your waterproof toys, as they come with a rubber stopper in the base to prevent water from entering the battery compartment).

  • Let your sex toy or vibrator run for a few seconds before using it to make sure that your batteries are A-OK!

  • Always take the batteries out of your vibrator or sex toy when you’ve finished playing as they’ll last longer that way – and so will your toy!
